GLADSTONE, Illinois -- Lawrence A. Lox, 70, died at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, January 19 at his home.

He was born August 10, 1909, at Gladstone, the son of Jacob and Ina Cook Lox. He married Virginia Ament on May 5, 1945, at Burlington, Iowa; she survives.

He was a guard at the Iowa Ordnance Plant, worked for Bell Printing Company, Stronghurst, Doran and Ward Lithograph, Burlington and 12 years for the Illinois Conservation Department.

He was a Gladstone township supervisor for over 30 years, Henderson county board member for many years, member of Happy Rock senior citizens, Gladstone and a member of Gladstone Presbyterian church.

He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the Disabled Veterans of Burlington and state commander of Iowa Disabled Veterans.

Surviving: A daughter, Mrs. Edmond (Marlene) Rider, Farmington, Iowa; two sons, Dick, Nauvoo and Randall, Glasford; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday, Gladstone United Methodist church; Reverend Sandra Walters; Oquawka cemetery. Disabled Veterans will hold graveside rites. A memorial fund has been established with the Burlington Disabled Veterans.
