She was a teacher in the Russell School District for 36 years, and was instrumental in developing the learning disability program in the Gateway School District. She retired in 1981.
Born in Boston, she graduated from East Boston High School in 1935 and the Westfield State Teachers College in 1942. She was a communicant, finance committeewoman and Confraternity of Christian Doctrine teacher of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, and a life member of the Westfield Grange.
She leaves her husband of 57 years, Leslie Weidman; a son, Leslie G. of Russell; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday morning at Firtion-Adams Funeral Home and the church, with burial in Russell Cemetery next spring. Calling hours are Wednesday afternoon and evening.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Route 20, Russell, MA 01071.
