William's military record states he was born in Orange Co., NC in 1754.

Other sources state his birth was in Wales, and that he migrated in 1764, to settle in North Carolina.

Descendant, Thomas Julian Bryant, submitted some of the following information regarding William for the following book:
"Missouri Historical Review, Vol. 4," by Floyd Calvin Shoemaker, page 232, states that William "reached the shores of the New world in 1764, until the date of his death in 1834, at the advanced age of ninety-five years."

He first married the widowed, Mrs. Rachel Willcockson Mylar, October of 1790, at Bryan's Station in Fayette Co., KY.

Children with Rachel:
Jeremiah Bryant 1791 KY-1834 (m. Martha Plummer)
Hiram Bryant 1792-183m. Sarah Evans)
Hurum Bryant 1792 (m. Susannah Brinegar)
Thomas Bryant 1795-1845 (m. Mary "Polly" Bennett)
Benjamin Bryant
Susan Bryant (m. William Hutcherson Jr.)
Elizabeth "Eliza" Bryant (m. Hardin Shifflet)
Henry Bryant 1802-1840 (m. Margaret)
(probably) William Bryant, Jr.

"Wilcoxson and Allied Families (Willcockson, Wilcoxen, Wilcox)," compiled and published by Dorothy Ford Wulfeck, M. A., 1958:
"This account of William Bryant's life and military service appears in "The Boone Family," by Hazel A. Spraker, 1922, pp 107-8, taken from "Bryant's Station and Its Founders," by a descendant, T. J. Bryant of Wheatland, WY (Missouri History. Rev. Vol. 3, No. 1, pp. 37-51) (Ms. Wulfeck: T. J. Bryant contributed a list of his children to Mrs. Spraker.) This states that Rachel "Married William Bryant b. 1739 in Wales; died Oct., 1834 aged 95 years in Boone Co., MO."

"According to well-established tradition, William Bryant of Bryant's Station, KY, accompanied by a brother named Benjamin Bryant, came from Wales to the shores of the New World in 1764, when they were young men. Benjamin settled in Virginia, while William Bryant chose North Carolina, in the region of the Upper Yadkin River, for his home. In this region he lived for several years, married and acquired property, and here he became acquainted with the Boones, Bryans, Wilcoxes, Callaways and other pioneer families in that section. Sometime prior to 1775, he accompanied Daniel Boone into Kentucky as far as the North Fork of the Elkhorn Creek, where the two men made camp and hunted and explored several weeks before returning to the Yadkin in N. C. ‘Early in 1779, William Bryant led a party of emigrants into Kentucky, stopping at Boonesboro for supplies, and continuing to a point about five miles northeast of Lexington, where they erected and fortified a number of cabins, and the place was from that time forth known as Bryant's Station.' He was a soldier in the Revolutionary Army, but his service was omitted in 1779, probably because of this migration. No doubt William Bryant's wife Rachel went with him to Kentucky, for they settled at Bryant's Station in Fayette Co., and later removed to what is now Estill Co., KY. From there, in about 1816-20, they went with their younger children to the new and promising land beyond the Mississippi, locating at Femme Osage, MO, not far from the Boone settlement in Callaway County. Here Rachel (Wilcox) Bryant died, and her husband removed to Boone County, in 1821.

"William Bryant married a second time a young woman named Nancy Wood, by whom he had children, none of whom lived to maturity. He died in Boone County, and is buried near the site of the vanished town of Stonesport. His will is recorded in Deed Record A, p. 292, Boone Co., MO."

William and Nancy married in 1824, in Callaway Co., MO.
Children with Nancy:
Martha "Patsy" also known as "Mary Polly" Bryant
Florinda/Florida Bryant
*Sirena Bryant 1832 (m. May 13, 1850 Callaway Co., MO- James Jameson/Jamison)
George Bryant

*There is no proof so far that Sirena Bryan was a daughter of William and Nancy.

Nancy Wood Bryan Spearman
Birth: 1795
Kentucky, USA
Death: unknown
Taney County
Missouri, USA

Daughter of William Wood and Martha Carter. Nancy's birth date was estimated in consideration of the date of her parents' marriage on Dec. 10, 1793, in Goochland, VA.

Nancy first married the widowed, Captain William Bryant, Sr., in 1824, in Callaway Co., MO. They lived in Boone County, near Nancy's uncle, Robert P. Carter, Jr., who resided in Claysville for many years, and owned a lumber yard there.
Children with Nancy:
Martha "Patsy" also known as "Mary Polly" Bryant
Florinda/Florida Bryant
Serena Bryant (m. May 13, 1850 Callaway Co., MO-James Jameson)
George Bryant

Shortly before William Bryant's death, his son, Hiram, was accused of horse theft in Boone Co. MO. His father posted a $2500 bond. Hiram fled back to Kentucky. He died there in 1836, leaving Nancy with no recourse to collect the money she and the children were owed, leaving them destitute and starving. In 1838, Benjamin Bryant petitioned the Boone County Court to "bind out" Nancy and her children.

Daughter, Martha "Patsy" Bryant, was living with her uncle, John Wood, and family in Taney Co MO in 1840. Other than daughter Serena, who married James Jameson in 1850 in Callaway Co MO, none of the children seemed to have lived to adulthood.

After the death of her mother, Martha Carter Wood, in Boone Co., KY, about 1842, Nancy went to Taney Co., MO, to be near her brothers and cousins who had emigrated there. She met and married second husband, John R. Spearman, Sr., about 1845. Nancy is enumerated with him in Taney Co MO in 1850.

Before 1860, Nancy was widowed again. Her daughter, Martha, lived with John's son - Sandipher Spearman and family in Taney County in 1850.
