Theodore H. Bartels
Theodore Henrey Bartels, 86, of Wilcox, NE died Sunday, November 7, 1999 at Methodist Memorial Homes.
He was born on November 7, 1913 at Campbell to Charles and Louise (Titkemeier) Bartels. He was baptized in infancy at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Campbell and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilcox on May 15, 1927. He attended St. John's Lutheran Parochial School through the eighth grade.
He farmed for John Gardels and later for Gayle Gardels, retiring in 1982.
On October 19, 1936 he was united in marriage to Emma Matilda Bruns at the Lutheran Parsonage at Kimball. They resided on farms in the Wilcox area, later moving into Wilcox in 1973.
Mr. Bartels was an active member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilcox, all his life, serving as an elder, treasurer, and trustee. Mr. and Mrs. Bartels have been residents at Methodist Memorial Home in Holdrege since September 14, 1999.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert Allen Bartels; an infant brother, Arnold Bartels; two sisters, Esther Kleeman and husband, Otto; and Laura Gellerman.
Survivors include his wife, Emma of Methodist Memorial Home in Holdrege; two sons, Arlyn Bartels and wife, Jean of Las Cruces, NM; Daniel Bartels and wife, Patricia of Lincoln; one daughter, Mrs. Dolores Tupper and husband, Roger of Naponee; brother-in-law, Rudolph Gellerman of Christian Homes in Holdrege; nine grandchildren; si great-grandchildren; relativs and a host of friends.
Funeral services were Thursday, November 11, 1999 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wilcox with Pastor Jeremy Jacoby officiating. Burial was in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, south of Wilcox.
The Banta-Torrey Funeral Home in Wilcox was in charge of arrangements.
