Herbert S. Cordill
Herbert S. Cordill, 85, Topeka, died Tuesday, May 28, 1991, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Cordill worked 47 years for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. before he retired Jan. 1, 1970.

He was born Dec. 9, 1905, at Bern, the son of Charles and Clara Johnson Cordill, and was graduated from Bern High School. He had lived in Topeka since 1938.

Mr. Cordill was a member of University United Methodist Church, Orient Lodge No. 51, AF&AM, Topeka Consistory of Scottish Rite and Telephone Company Pioneers.

He was married to Fannie W. Shaffer on May 26, 1929, at Bern. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Darlene Erwin, Topeka; two sons, Ronald H. Cordill, Visalia, Calif., and Carl Owen Cordill, San Francisco; two sisters, Ruth Richard, El Dorado, and Carol Stauffer, Bern; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to University United Methodist Church, 1621 S.W. College, 66604.
