Private William "Henry" Glatts was a 21 year-old Wilmington cabinet maker when he enlisted in Capt. Valentine's Company K, 4th Delaware Volunteer Infantry.

The surgeon's notes in his military file include this description of his death at 4:30 pm, July 26, 1863:

"Autopsy 14 hours after death...health except lower...right lung much congested. Whole length of colon much enlarged. Spleen much congested. Liver and kidney normal."

He died of Typhoid Fever at the Third Division Hospital on King Street.

His possessions were sent care of Peter Foreman on Shiple Street, below 5th, Wilmington, DE.
