Mrs. Julia M. Clark
Mrs. Julia M. Clark died at the home of James Livingston of Cobleskill May 3, where she had
gone for a visit and to attend special Old School Baptist services. Mrs. Clark was the widow of Elder John Clark, a widely known Delaware and Schoharie county Old School Baptist clergyman. She was sick but five days and indigestion and a weak heart is given as the cause of death. The body was brought to Halcottville Friday and the funeral services, conducted by Elder George Ruston, was held Monday afternoon at the Old School Baptist church. The interment was in the cemetery at that village. The immediate surviving relatives are three sons, one Victor L. Webb of Little Rock, Ark., by a former marriage, and Scott Clark of Halcottville and Lavern of Margaretville.

Julia M. Clark, whose maiden name was Julia M. Roberts, was born January 14, 1842, in Bragg Hollow, where she grew to womanhood, marrying Linus Webb in 1870. They removed to Michigan where Mr. Webb died in 1874, when Mrs. Webb and her little son Victor returned to Halcottville. In 1866 she united with the Second Roxbury Old School Baptist church and until the time of her death 62 years later was one of its most active and highly esteemed members.

Her unusually strong character, firmness of settled convictions, steadfast purpose and high resolve, combined well with her interest in the wellfare of the church of her membership and her hospitality, readiness for willing service and Interest in neighborhood and community affairs, made her influence felt with credit as a pastor's wife. Her home was always open to all affiliated with the Old School Baptist church and the warmth of heartiest welcome will linger long in the memory of many a guest.

In 1876 Mrs. Webb was united in marriage to John Clark, who died in 1922. They lived for a time in Bragg Hollow and in Halcottville, and in 1880 moved to a large farm below Roxbury which they conducted until 1894, when they returned to Halcottville, where they spent the remainder of their lives.
