Rupert Becker was the night watchman in Amherst, Ohio. On April 10, 1916 he was shot & killed by Martin Bischoff, a quarry worker presumably drunk and coming out of a bar on what's now Church Street in downtown Amherst. His headstone says 'Robert' but his name was Rupert, as known by family as well as vital records. His name appears on the Fallen Officers Memorial in Washington, DC. Constable Rupert Becker
