Ellen Louise (Sage) Pierce left this world to be with her husband Bill and the Lord on Sunday, May 13, 2012, with family and her cat "Molly" at her bedside. She was 87 years 11 months.

Ellen Louise (Sage) Pierce, 87, of Lewiston, was born June 13, 1924, in Lexington to Harry and Eva (Prasch) Sage. Ellen was raised in Lexington and attended grade school there. She later graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1943.

On April 10, 1945, Ellen was united in marriage to J.W. "Bill" Pierce in Rapid City, S.D. The couple then moved to Oklahoma City, Okla., until Bill was discharged from the Air Force. After his discharge, they moved back to Lexington where Ellen worked for her family's business Sage Dry Cleaners. To this union, Sondra and Mary Ellen were born.

Ellen worked for many years at the Lexington Hospital, Dr. E.A. Watson, and Plum Creek Medical Clinic as an office assistant. After moving to Kearney, Ellen went to work with her daughter Mary Ellen at the local dry cleaners and eventually retired from Kmart in 1982.

In December of 1999, Bill and Ellen moved their home to Lewiston, where they lived till Bill's death in 2000. Ellen continued her life in Lewiston and adopted a cat named "Molly" who was her constant companion till the very end.

Ellen was an avid animal lover, especially cats. She enjoyed watching different species of birds that graced her yard. Ellen enjoyed reading and watching cooking shows.

She loved to cook and try new recipes. You could always find a cookbook or recipe in a magazine ready to be tried. She loved Nebraska Husker volleyball and was know to play Bridge on the computer for hours.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband J.W. "Bill"; aunts, uncles, cousins, and a great-granddaughter, Cainey Childears.

Ellen is survived by her daughters, Sondra Naumann and her husband Ron of Lexington; Mary Ellen Woofter and her husband Neil of Lewiston; a brother, Roger Sage and his wife Nancy of Greenfield, Ariz.; grandchildren, Steven Woofter and his special friend Laura Price of Springfield, Ore., Jaime Woofter of Lewiston, Amanda Bauer and her husband Kent of Lincoln, Ashley Childears and her husband Justin of North Platte; great-grandchildren, Blake and Morgan Bauer of Lincoln, Celie and Ceiden Childears of North Platte; special friends, Delores Puhalla and Dayna Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 18, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Steinauer, with Father Scott Courtney officiating.

A Rosary Service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Friday, May 18, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Steinauer, with Father Scott Courtney officiating. Inurnment will be at the St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Lexington at a later date. Memorials contributions may be given to family's choice.
