James lived and worked for many years in California. He worked at Eureka Sand and Gravel for 32 years driving a concrete truck. James enjoyed camping and fishing with his family. He moved back to Arkansas in the late seventies, where he became an avid farmer. He loved working with his cattle and haying. James enjoyed being around people. Socializing and visiting with friends and family brought much enjoyment to his life.
James is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bonnie (Campbell) Carter; wife, Delores (St. Clair) Carter; daughter, Katherine Carter; granddaughter, Wendy Myers Freeman; and brother, Hubert Carter.
Survivors include daughters, Sharon Myers of Clinton, Patricia Carter Fields and husband Phillip of Russellville and Linda Gill and husband Kevin of Eureka, CA; grandchildren, James V. Hendrix and wife Carlene, Melissa Newton and wife Mike, Chris Hendrix, James D. Carter, Amy Gunderson and husband Garth, Ben Gill and Brad Gill; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene Carter and wife Edith of Fayetteville; a very special friend, Wilma Smithson; and other friends and family members who will also mourn his passing.
Funeral Services for James W. Carter will be 2:00 PM Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Howard Smith officiating. Visitation will be 12:00 till 2:00 PM preceding the service. Burial will be in Silver Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James D. Carter, Howard Carter, Bill Carter, Phillip L. Fields, John Steen and Benny Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Myers, Allen Aday, Steve Wayman, Curt Purvis and Patrick Carter.
