PORTLAND -- Shirley R. Curry, 88, died on July 27, 2010, at the Cedars.
Born on Feb. 3, 1922, in Portland, she was the daughter of the late George and Violet Leighton Christy.
Graduating from Portland High School, she was a member of the North Deering Congregational Church and a member of the Church Guild. For 60 years she spent summers at their camp on Little Sebago Lake.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, George Christy, Virginia Sellers, Roland Christy, Robert Christy and Jeanette Stapleton. Shirley is survived by two sons, Douglas L. Curry and his partner Marcia A. Cady of Manchester, Conn., and Dennis M. Curry and his wife Marlyn of Eustis; her sister, Sylvia DelPonte of Portland; three grandchildren, Michelle A. Smith and her husband Frank of Port Orchard, Wash., Marie L. Sickman and her husband Derek of Vernon, Conn., and Heather Proctor of West Port Island; and six great-grandchildren, Kaela Smith, Kailer Smith, Jeremy DiPace , Nicholas Sickman, Neico Proctor and Hunter Dubay.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010 Portland Press Hearld July 30, 2010
