Married Nancy Gay on 13 Feb 1838 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. They had three children Mary, Eveline, and John Sidney Davis. When he returned from the Mexican War, he took Mary and moved to Tennessee where he married Elizabeth L. Payne and had several children by her.

Died at the Illinois Soldiers and Sailors Home in Adams County (Near Quincy), Illinois on February 14, 1903

Corporal in US Military during Mexican War (First Regiment, Company A, North Carolina volunteers)

Private during Civil War in Union Army (Indiana, Regt. 136th, Co. C, Inf)

His son Sid Davis, served in the Confederate Army early in the war before being discharged for a disability.

He appears to be buried in Sunset Cemetery, but he also has a marker with his second wife at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois.
