HICKMAN, Ky., Jan 6---Fulton County Coroner Don Chaney has ruled four-year-old Paula Kay Yates died "accidentally by burning."
The child, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Ray Edward Yates, Hickman Rt. 3 was burned to death in a fire which destroyed the home of her parents on Ky. 94 near here Saturday at about 8:30 a.m
FuneraLservices were conducted at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Chaney FuneraI Home here with the Rev. J. T. Neely officiating. Burial was in Hickman City Cemetery.
Chaney said the fire started when some diesel fuel was used to start a fire in a stove. Some of the fuel was spilled on the floor, and when the fire was lighted it blew out, igniting the fuel oil on the floor, according to the coroner.
Flames spread quickly, the coroner said and the fire department was not called because the residence is located outside the city limits. The girl was asleep at the time and flames spread so quickly through the frame dwelling that all attempts to rescue her failed.
Besides her parents, she leaves a brother, Melvin Ray Yates, 2; a sister, Wanda Jo Yates, ; and grandparents, Mrs. Pauline Newcomb and Mr. and Mrs. Sam' .Yates, all of Hickman.
