Mrs. Beatrice Jane Fisher Saltzman, 73, of Frederick, died Sunday, Dec. 29, at Frederick Memorial Hospital, after a lengthy illness.

She was the wife of Edward K. Saltzman, who died May 30, 1984.

Born July 14, 1929, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Ruby Eichelberger and Charles Fisher.

Mrs. Saltzman attended Frederick County schools. As a child, she tap danced and sang on the local radio station. She was known as "The Little Girl with the Big Voice."

She was a mother and housewife for a number of years before working for more than 24 years at Betty's Restaurant, until it closed. She then worked for a short period at the Sheraton Restaurant.

Mrs. Saltzman was a member of Frederick Women of the Moose for many years and served in the Women's Auxiliary.

She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she attended services when she was able, as well as the senior lunches.

Surviving are five children, Wanda Eyler and husband Chico of Westminster, Debbie Warfield and husband Rick, Nancy Saltzman, Rodney Saltzman, and Kathy Brandon and husband Phil, all of Frederick; two stepsons, Edward Saltzman and wife Elaine of Upper Marlboro, and Robert Saltzman and wife Joanne of Annapolis; six grandchildren, Bill Eyler and wife Cindy of Hanover, Pa., Carrie Wright of Hampstead, Danielle Wittenberg and husband David of Frederick, Matt Warfield of Towson, and Natalie and Adam Brandon of Frederick; one great-granddaughter, Abigail Wittenberg of Frederick; one brother, Richard Fisher and wife Julie; one sister, Mary Grabill and husband Charles; one sister-in-law, Ernestine Braswell of Baltimore; several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She also will be remembered by her friends, Phyllis and John Wills.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Louise Oden and Emma Norris; and one brother, Austin Fisher and her friend, Eunice Miller.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Stacey Brady and the Rev. Barbara Bornemann officiating.

Entombment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Frederick.
