On April 5, 2009 life came to a close for Mr. Rubert Edwards, Jr. at the Lufkin Memorial Hospital. Rubert was born on March 4, 1936 to the late Rubert Edwards, Sr. and Susie A. Roberts Edwards. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Bethal C.M.E. Baptist Church. He was retired from the logging business and was also known for going around mowing yards.
He married the late Lois Evelyn Lane Edwards and to this union seven children were born of which two preceded him in death. Willie Glenn and Billy R. Edwards. One great-grandchild, Alvin Tay'Shawn Smith also preceded him in death.
Mr. Edwards leaves to cherish his memory: three daughters, Lois M. Edwrds of Broadview, Illinois; Shenet Smith and Ivery Davis (Donald) of San Augustine, Texas; two sons, James R. Edwrds of Las Vegas, Nevada and Kenndey W. Edwards of Center, Texas; one brother, James W. Edwards of San Augustine, Texas and one sister, Myrtle L. Malone of Maywood, Illinois; 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one special great-grandchild, Anayiah Holman and a host of nieces. nephews, other relatives and friends.
