Interment with military honors was held at Fort Leavenworth Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kans.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 12, at 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg with the Rev. Harold Vanicek Jr. officiating.
Wahrmund was born Aug. 9, 1924, in the Tivydale community of Gillespie County, the son of Ernst Wahrmund and Ida Weidner Wahrmund. His wife, Molly, survives.
Wahrmund served in the U.S. Army until 1947, receiving a number of awards and citations for his service.
In addition to his wife, Wahrmund is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Sharon Wahrmund, and a sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Kermit Crenwelge, all of Fredericksburg."
