Dorothy Polk, 106, resident of Windsor of Savoy, formerly of Oaktown, Ind., died July 1, 2012, surrounded by her daughter and three of her granddaughters.

She was born Sept. 30, 1905 in Oaktown, IN, to Frank and Elizabeth Shepard. She graduated from Vincennes University and taught school. She married Bruce Polk on June 23, 1929. She enjoyed knitting, needle point, reading and playing bridge. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg and a member of P.E.O. Chapter AR.

Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Polk Craver; a son-in-law, Nolan Craver Jr. of Champaign; daughter-in-law, Shirley Polk of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; husband; son; and two great-grandsons.

There will be a private graveside service Tuesday July 3, 2012 at Oaktown Cemetery with Todd Barnhizer officiating. Those desiring may make contributions to the Presbyterian Church (34 W. Poplar St, Harrisburg, Ill. 62946) or to Carle Hopsice (2064 W. Anthony Drive, Champaign, Ill. 61822). Arrangements were handled by Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Oaktown Chapel. There will be a memorial service at a later date at Windsor of Savoy.
