Died unexpectedly Monday, April 30, 2012 in Hills and Dales General Hospital, Cass City, at the age of 77.

She was born June 7, 1934 in Cass City to Roy and Lela (Spaulding) Wright. She married Richard Thorp Jan. 28, 1956 in Cass City United Methodist Church.

Nila attended Cass City Public Schools. Nila and Richard celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 28, 2006. She was a member of Kingston Wesleyan Church and enjoyed participating in the activities of the church. Nila took pleasure in bird watching, especially as they gathered around the bird feeder. She also enjoyed doing word puzzles and watching her favorite TV show, Little House on the Prairie.

Nila is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Jim Thorp of Caro, Karen Thorp of Caro; brothers-in-law, Richard Holcomb of McClure, OH, Gerald (Sharon) Thorp of Caro; sisters-in-law, Eileen Thorp of Caro, Barbara Thorp of Davison; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Betty (Philip) Doerr, Pauline Holcomb; brother, Clifford Wright; brothers-in-law, Laverne "Jim" Thorp, Douglas Thorp.

Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 5 in Kingston Wesleyan Church, with Pastor Len Wyatt officiating. Interment was in Indianfields Township Cemetery, Caro.

Memorials may be made to Kingston Wesleyan Church or American Heart Association. Kranz Funeral Home in Kingston assisted the family with the arrangements. Family and friends may share memories, prayers and stories with the family at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
