YORKTOWN--Everett Gene Duke, Jr., 59, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly Sunday evening, May 13, 2012 at his residence.

He was born on January 24, 1953 in Orlando, FL, the son of Everett Gene and Nancy Ann (Lord) Duke, moved to Muncie as an infant, graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1971, served in Germany with the US Army from 1972 to 1974, and received his Associate's Degree from Indiana Vocational Technical College in 1977.

Gene was a tool maker at various tool and die shops including Twoson Tool and Delaware Machine.

Surviving are three sisters, Lucinda Cruz (husband-Carl), Muncie, Teresa Hughes, Yorktown, and Melissa Wilkinson, Patoka Lake; a niece, Angela Cruz, Indianapolis; four nephews, Clay Cruz, Muncie, Anthony Cruz (wife-Emily), Chesterfield, Adam Clevenger (wife-Jessica), Indianapolis, and Matthew Hughes, Yorktown; two uncles, James R. Lord, Muncie, and Howard Bowlby, Muncie; two great-nephews; and a great-niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road with Pastor Mark Dill officiating. Burial will follow in the Veterans Section of Beech Grove Cemetery with Military Rites by Veterans of Delaware County. Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, from 11 a.m on Thursday until service time on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Delaware County Veterans Administration, 100 W. Main St., Muncie, IN 47305.
