He was born and raised in Chamal Tamaulipas, Mexico and had been a resident of Sulphur since 1953. Wayne was ordained as a minister at Trinity Baptist Church of Sulphur in 1962 and had been an active member of Olivet Baptist Church for 47 years. He retired as an operator from CitCon in 1981.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Helen Wing Belshe of Carlyss; four sons, Gerald Belshe and wife, Dione of Marathon, Texas, Randy Belshe of Carlyss, Steve Belshe and wife, Angela of Carlyss, and Dean Belshe of Sulphur; his daughter-in-law, Millisa Belshe of Baytown, Texas; his brother, Leonard Carlton of Waco, Texas; seven grandchildren, Johnathan Greer, Peyton Belshe, Jordan Belshe, Steven Belshe, Brooklyn Clay, Miracle Tedrick, and Willow Tedrick; and one great-grandson, Ethan Greer. He is preceded in death by a brother, Homer Belshe; and two sisters, Lynora Kilgore and Susanne Carlton.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 17, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Revs. Marshall Baggett, Don Walker, and Weldon Bares will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday in the funeral home.
