ILLNESS FATAL TO TOM ACKERMAN

Thomas Gerald Ackerman, son of Thomas and Margaret Ackerman was born in Wise Township, Isabella County, Michigan, April 8, 1932 and passed away November 13, 1958 at age of 26 years, 7 months and 5 days.

He received his education in the Clare High School, graduated with the class of 1950. He served with the United States Army from 1952 to 1954.

On November 5, 1955 he was married to Vera Jean Slater. To this union were born two children, Deborah two years, and Duane 8 ½ months of age.

Thomas spent his entire life in this community and has made many lasting friendships through his cherry disposition and fine character. He was a fine husband and loving father. He was employed at the Clare Manufacturing Company in Clare at the time of his death.

Three brothers preceded him in death; twins Don and Dale who died in infancy, and Charles Frederick who died at the age of eighteen years.

He leaves to morn his passing, his wife, Vera Jean, their two children, his foster son Danny, his father and mother, and five sisters and one brother; Hazel Beatty of Clare, Frances Chaffee of Sterling, Doris Eisenhauer of Farwell, Margaret McPhall, Bernice Eberhart, and Neil of Clare, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held from the Clare Methodist Church , Sunday afternoon, Nov. 16th, the Rev. L.J. Nevins officiating, with interment in Cherry Grove Cemetery. Funeral arrangements, were under the direction of the Thurston Funeral Home. (Clare Sentinel, p. 8 – Clare, MI – 20 November 1958)
