September 1902 Obituary from the Magnolia [Mississippi] Gazette:

Gus or "Gussie", as he was called by his mother and sisters, was a remarkably sweet tempered person. From the small water mill, which he helped his father to build on the Tangipahoa near Magnolia, MS, Gus built a lumber business which included 3 saw mills. "It is not enough to say that the community in which he lived has suffered a loss. It owed its existence to him, and in him centered the lives of hundreds of people who earned their daily bread in his employ. Theirs is a loss irreparable. But the world is poorer for the loss of such a man. Fair and open in all his dealings with mankind, pure in the purpose of heart, upright and noble in his walk and conversation, his character shines in the memory of those who knew him." "Magnolia Gazette". Genealogy.com (LLC), Broderbund (FTJ), Vol. 38, Tree 1530
