AMATO Margaret Ann "Peggy" Sallee
88, widow of Matthew Joseph Amato, Jr., died Wed, March 7, 2012 at Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph Hospital. Born in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Benjamin and Marguerite Egalite Sallee. She was a homemaker and a longstanding member at Cathedral of Christ the King where she volunteered for several years. In her younger years she worked for Greyhound Corp. She was a wonderful seamstress and did alterations for the Turf and Tartan Shop. She played tennis in her younger years, was in a bowling league, and was an avid card player. Her real passion was dancing with her husband. She was a regular at Suggins Bar and Grill and Wheelers Pharmacy. Survivors are seven children, Carol Mills, Peggy (Greg) Powell, Matthew J. "Buddy" (Frankie) Amato III, Kathleen Fox, all of Lexington, Mary Lou (Jonathan) Buckley, Georgetown, Janet (Tom) Johnson, Georgetown, and Patrick (Jill) Amato, Canton, GA; grandchildren, Megan Powell, Annie (Julian) Sevilla, Neal (Tara) Banta, Lauren (Chris) Jones, Ryan Fox, Kate (Collin) Rector, Erica (Jason) Eaves, Tommy (Megan) Johnson, Sarah (Stephen) Parker, Christopher Amato, Allison Amato, Glenn Long, Marianne Long, Tyler (Lisa) Buckley and Molly (Charlie) Boyd; ten great-grandchildren, Michael, Peyton and James Jones, Gibson and Bella Eaves, Josie and Matthew Banta, Weston Parker, Noah Sevilla and Henry Boyd; sisters-in-law, Patricia Sallee and Nancy Sallee; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Hubert Bernard "Bud" Sallee and J. Leonard Sallee. She was blessed to have many wonderful friends and neighbors who cared for her in many ways. The family would especially like to thank Vicki Jones, Clay Wilcoxen, and Sue and Charlie Pond. The family would also like to acknowledge the wonderful care she received from Home Instead and from Hospice of the Bluegrass. Funeral services will be 11:30am Mon at Cathedral of Christ the King by Rev. Norman Fischer. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Neal Banta, Tyler Buckley, Tommy Johnson, Ryan Fox, Christopher Amato and Clay Wilcoxen. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Jones, Jason Eaves, Julian Sevilla, Stephen Parker, Charlie Boyd and Collin Rector. Visitation will be from 5-9pm Sun at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St. Contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.
