Mrs. Juanita Nicholson, age 88, of Natalia, TX, died Saturday, June 26, 2010. She was born at home near Tillar AR on April 10, 1922, the daughter of the late Samuel O. Abston and Verdie Aycock Abston.

She was a retired schoolteacher who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and a minor in Science at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1943. She moved to Natalia in 2003, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Devine.

She was preceded in death by her husband Willie W. Nicholson of Fort Worth TX, her brother James W. Abston of Monticello AR, her great-grandson James P. Nicholson and great-granddaughter Emmaline G. Nicholson.

Survivors include her son William A. Nicholson and wife Linda of Natalia TX, daughter Camille Breeden and husband Larry of Van Buren AR, four sisters, Maxine Bucans of Etna, WY, Jean Sterne of Colleyville TX, Marilou Douglas of Tillar AR and Martha Culhane of Tucson AZ, six grandchildren, Amber Delaney of Helotes TX, Stephanie Rofkahr of Van Buren AR, Rebekah Jank of Adkins TX, Joshua Nicholson of Natalia TX, Daniel Breeden of Van Buren AR, Jeffrey Breeden of Birmingham AL and eleven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at 11 am on Wednesday, June 30 at the Hurley Funeral Home Chapel, 303 College Avenue, Devine TX 78016. Internment and graveside service will be held at Newton Chapel Cemetery, Jefferson Township, Desha County AR, Griffin Funeral Home, 109 South Brasfield Street, Dumas AR 71639, directing.
