Archer H. Warne passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2002, from complications of Alzheimers. He was 89 years old.
Arch was born in Fremont, Ohio, and moved to Los Angeles with his family while very young. He attended Beverly Hills High School, Cal Tech for two years, and graduated from UCLA in 1936, with a degree in Geology. He moved to Bakersfield in 1938 to work for Richfield Oil Co. as a petroleum Geologist. He worked for them for 31 years, retiring in 1969. Then he worked for the next 17 years as a consultant for Tenneco, Occidental, Dow Chemical, Tejon Ranch and Sohio. In addition to his love of geology, Arch had a life-long passion for fossil hunting. He spent many years hunting for sharks-teeth and other marine fossils in Kern County and Southern California, and taught classes from Redlands University.
Arch is survived by his daughter, Betty; and son, Bob; two granddaughters; one great-grandson; a sister; two nieces and two nephews.

Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd., on Monday, November 11, 2002, at 11:00 a.m.
Visitation begins Sunday, November 10, at 8:00 a.m.
