Walter Snow wrote "Lydia Roberts b. 20 April 1792 in Penobscot" according to this: "Snow, Walter A., Brooksville, Maine: A Town of the Bagaduce, Privately printed by Weekly Packet, Blue Hill, Maine, 1967."
Sedgwick's vital records show that Lydia and two boys with the Roberts surname were placed in the care of Deacon Solomon Billings and his wife, Abigail Eaton, the daughter of Theophilus Eaton and his wife, Abigail Fellows.
"Children under the care of Mr. Solomon Billings"
"Amaziah Roberts of Penobscot born August 2, 1783
Tobias Roberts of Penobscot born August 1, 1789
Lydia Roberts of Penobscot born April 20, 1792"
It appears that these are three siblings who, for some reason, were without parents to care for them and therefore Samuel Billings and his wife agreed to take them in and raise them. However, these children may have been cousins rather than siblings.
Abigail "Abby" (Sargent) Neese, wrote a manuscript, entitled "Genealogy of the Byard and Sargent Families of Maine" in which she noted that Lydia Marks Roberts was the daughter of Samuel Roberts from Somersworth, N.H. and his wife, "Dolly" (Dorothy?) Moore. I haven't been able to find Samuel and Dolly anywhere on-line. I do know that Somersworth was formerly a part of Dover; it was made a Parish on Dec. 19, 1729.
Lydia was first married to Simeon Grant, born July 3, 1791 in Penobscot, and they filed their intentions to marry on
27 May 1810. Lydia, by Simeon, had Simeon, Jr. and Lucy Grant. Simeon, Sr. died at some point and Lydia's second marriage was to James Byard, the youngest of the ten children born to Abigail (Glover) Byard and her husband, Robert Byard.
Lydia and James Byard were the parents of Betsey, married to Daniel Eaton; James Byard II who died at age five; Mary Ann Byard, married to Capt. Lucius Bolles Sargent; Lydia Byard who never married and Abigail Roberts Byard, married to Capt. Jasper Newton Sargent, the younger brother of Lucius. Lydia's son Simeon and daughter Lucy Grant were also raised with their half-brothers and sisters.
Lydia Roberts Byard died on 11 Aug. 1874 and James died on Dec. 25, 1876.
