Ruth F. Howdyshell, 90, Lancaster, died Monday, July 31 at Logan Health Care following a lengthy illness.



Born Sept. 7, 1909, Murray City, daughter of the late John and Ethel Beerman, she was married for 67 years to George Howdyshell, who survives.



She was a lifetime member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving as Sunday School teacher, pianist and in other leadership roles.



One of her greatest joys was spending 24 years in teaching, including several as a third-grade teacher at Bremen Elementary in the Fairfield Union School District.



Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Alan (Marlene L.) Osterhoudt of Tavares, Fla.; a son, Dr. Ronald L. (Carol) Howdyshell of Florence, Ala.; four grandchildren, Thomas B. (Christy) Howdyshell of Anchorage, Alaska, Michael C. (Nancy) Howdyshell of Florence, Ala., Dianna L. Selman of Billings, Mont., and Janet L. Smith of Belgrade, Mont.; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.



A memorial service will be held 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3376 Wheeling Road NE, Lancaster, with Pastor Janet N, Smith officiating.



No calling hours will be observed.



The family suggests contributions be made to Fairfield Union Trust in memory of Ruth Howdyshell, c/o Fairfield County Foundation, P.O. Box 2450, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
