While Philip Bledsoe, a farmer of five miles southwest of Princeton, was assisting in treating an injured horse yesterday morning, he was kicked in the abdomen and died as a result of the injuries at 7:30 o'clock last night. The accident happened about 10 o'clock in the morning.
The horse was a 20 year-old colt and was cut in a wire fence Friday night during the storm. Medicine was being applied to the injuries yesterday and the animal became unruly and struck Mr. Bledsoe with one foot. Dr. J. R. Thornbury was called to attend the stricken man who was mortally hurt.
Mr. Bledsoe was 68 years old and had lived in Franklin County for thirty five years. He came here from Indiana and was a well known farmer. He was a veteran of the Civil War and a member of the G.A. R.
The deceased was born March 8, 1845, in Middletown, Ind., and was married to Edna Higer. His wife, six children, three sisters and a brother survive him. The children are Adam J. Bledsoe, Mrs Ella Schmitt and Mrs Charles Huff, all of Princeton,, Lewis E. Bledsoe of Douglas, Wyo., John D. Bledsoe of Lane and Mrs. T. Q. Day of Kansas City.
The funeral will not be held before Thursday as the son from Wyoming will be here to attend the services. The complete arrangements have not been made but services will be at the Greenwood Church and burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The Rev. L. B. Dobbs of Princeton will have charge.
