Alene M. Powell
A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 1998, in Rose City Funeral Home for Alene M. Powell, who died June 29 of cancer at age 62.
Mrs. Powell was born March 24, 1936, in Hamilton, Mont., and moved to Portland in 1953. Her maiden name was Oliver. She attended University Beauty College. In the 1970s, she was the head instructor and manager for Phagens' School of Beauty and then was an instructor at University Beauty College. She worked for Nordstrom in its warehouse in the 1980s. In 1955, she married Kenneth; he died in 1995.
Survivors include her son, Scott E. of Vancouver, Wash.; daughters, Leilauni Lea Hauck and Kenya A., parents, Raymond E. and Annie M. Oliver, and brother, Howard E. Oliver, all of Portland; and six grandchildren. A daughter, Renee L., died in 1960.
Interment will be in Rose City Cemetery. The family suggests remembrances to Kaiser Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
