Born in Erie, PA, he joined the International Typographical Union there before his military service. After coming to Baltimore, he became a member of that union's Local 12, the Baltimore Typographical Union. He served on the union's membership, health and sanitation, and sick committees, was four times a delegate to the regional conventions and was a founding member of the Union Printers Veterans Club. A resident of downtown St. Paul street, he was a longtime worshiper of St. Ignatius Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy and a sister, Annie E. Pyle of Pittsburgh.
