Our community was sorely grieved last Friday upon hearing of the sad death of Walter F. Kranz, son of Mr and Mrs. H. G. Kranz of Granby township. The unfortunate young man, who lived at Black Duck was crushed and killed while helping a neighbor wreck an old building.

Walter Kranz was born in Granby township, this county, on December 12, 1913, and was thus nearing his 24th birthday. He grew to manhood in this community and was married to Miss Marie Riedel at Gaylord on June 28, 1936. Following their marriage they moved to Black Duck where Mr. Kranz purchased a small farm and summer resort.

He is mourned by his sorrowing wife, his parents, and the following sisters and brothers; Mrs. Ernest Reed of Eagle Lake, Mrs Walter Kiewatt of West Allis, Wis., Mrs. Merle Blaisdel of Pemberton, Miss Dorothy Kranz of Mankato, Mrs. Jack Undenstock of Maywood, Il., Roland Kranz of Granby township, and Hans Kranz of Black Duck.

Funeral services were held from the Kranz home east of Nicollet Tuesday afternoon at one o'clock and from the Trinity Lutheran Church at 1;45, Rev F Koehler officiating. Interment was made at the church cemetery at Old Nicollet.
