Author. He was married for a time to Anne Sullivan, the teacher to Helen Keller. Besides his own books, he edited Helen Keller's "Story of My Life." His principal works include "Edgar Allen Poe," "Feminism and Femininity," and "Walter James Dodd." His best known book was "The Spirit of American Literature."
