After receiving her education, Pearl taught school for several years in rural Nebr. before moving to Omaha where she met her husband, William E. Smith. They were married in Ainsworth and moved to Cedar Rapids where they operated a small grocery store. Several years later, they moved back to Omaha where Mr. Smith joined the Police Department in 1909.
They lived at 3302 No. 55th Street until Mr. Smith retired from the police force and moved to 1902 Childs Road where they enjoyed many years doing what they both loved most - raising a garden, flowers and chickens. Mr. Smith passed away January, 1959 and Pearl continued to live on the acreage until her death. She leaves behind two sons, Stanley Smith of Simi Valley, Calif., L. K. Smith of Omaha, and two daughters, Iola Smart of Prescott, Ariz., and Lucille Harsch of Omaha. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Zelda Toft.
