Loretta A. Mitchell, 89, of Lancaster, and formerly of Plainview, NY and Providence, RI, entered into the presence of our Lord on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at her home in Homestead Village, Lancaster.
Born in Lincoln, RI, on December 8, 1926, Loretta was the sixth of twelve children of the late Omer and Marie-Ange (Hamel) Gauvin. She was married to Peter P. Mitchell on May 18, 1946, until he passed away in 2008. Together they loved to travel, especially taking cruises, and visiting with family members. She was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church.
A homemaker for most of her life, Loretta will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be lovingly missed by her daughters, Lori, (wife of the late Peter Scallatino) of Lancaster, Kathleen, wife of Richard Quinn of NJ, and Maureen, wife of Steven Deibert of Lancaster; by her grandchildren, Kimberly, Brian, Peter, Patrick, Melissa, Ryan, Jennifer, Daniel, Sophia and Mia; and by her great grandchildren, Salvatore, Dominick, Alexis, and Parker. She was predeceased by her son, Peter H. Mitchell, husband of Diane of Syracuse, NY.
Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to a visitation on Friday, November 4, 2016 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the DeBord Snyder Funeral Home, 2024 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster, PA.
