NOTES FROM DIXON RESEARCHER MARY ACHEY 10/2014
"I was at the NC state archives in Raleigh last weekend looking through the bastardy bonds of Ashe County.
I can assure you that none of them burned at the courthouse. There are no gaps in the folder dates!
This finding is with one of Comfort's (1827-1914) younger sisters.
There was one folder that was "Undated" bonds.
This finding is Jerusha Dixon having a child with George Washington Parsons. George signed paternity.
Also another person Jacob Roten helped post the bond money. He definitely was a good friend to help post a $200 bond back in the 1800s. That was a lot of money.
Jacob was also a cousin of Jerusha.
The bond does not say if the child is a girl or a boy.
And it wasn't dated.
George Washington Parsons was married to Jerusha's sister Eva Bell.
It's hard telling when the birth of the child occurred.
It could have been around the time of the Civil War because George Washington Parsons was a 1st SGT in the Confederate Army.
If I were to study census records, there would be a kid in there somewhere and I think I could figure it out.
Leads so far are Azilphia or Harry.
George Washington Parson's brother Isaac also married one of the other Dixon sisters Louisa.
THANKS MARY!!
