William Nathan Bates was born in St.Lawrence Co., NY and died at Huntsville, Madison Co., AL during the Civil War.
He married Louise Rawlins and they had five children: Almon L., Flavilla Louise, William Henry, Martha Adeline, and Mary S. Bates. He was also married to Lucinda Rawlins, sister of Louise. He served in the Civil War and died while in that service. His body was taken to his home in IL for burial.
