Father: Levi L Hayden. According to a publication on the history of Anderson County, Kansas, in the autumn of 1860, Levi went with a group to hunt buffalo and wolf near where the city of Wichita is now. In late November, Levi left camp to lay some wolf traps. The weather was bad and he became disoriented. After 3 days looking for him, his group found him with is feet frozen to the ice. He was severely frozen, losing his hands and his feet. He would die from his injuries. I have not found his burial location.
