Frank Benner Jr., 79, 403 Thomas St., Roaring Spring, died Thursday evening, Nov. 22, 2001, at Altoona Hospital.

He was born Dec. 19, 1921, in Henrietta, the son of the late Frank Sr. andCarrie (Garber) Benner.

He married Doris Hite July 20, 1948, in Roaring Spring. Mr.

Benner was a member of Christ Church,Roaring Spring. He retired from Appleton Papers in the maintenance department with 37 years of service.

Mr. Benner was a 1942 graduate of Roaring Spring High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 864th Engineer Corps in the South Pacific.

Mr. Benner graduated from the Franklin Technical Institute of Boston as an engineer enlisted specialist.

He enjoyed cooking and gardening. Mr. Benner was a member and past commander of the Ray-Camp VFW Post 7689 and a member of the Murray Appleman American Legion Post 147, both of Roaring

Spring.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Barry F. of Duncansville; four sisters: Jane Bowers of Roaring Spring, Alberta Brumbaugh and Edna Benner, both of Homewood Retirement Center, Martinsburg, and Hazel Benner of the Blair Chalet, Hollidaysburg RD 1.

He was preceded in death by four sisters: Helen Brumbaugh, Geraldine Raugh, Ethel Benner and Frances

Benner.

Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. today in the J . Gary Thompson Funeral Home, Roaring Spring.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mount Pleasant United Church of Christ, Martinsburg RD, by the Rev. Hugh Cowan. Interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
