McGregor, Ia. – Services for Richard Meehan, 72, of Harper's Ferry, well known farmer of Allamakee and Clayton counties, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Paint Creek Catholic Church near Harper’s Ferry with burial in the church cemetery.
Meehan died Sunday afternoon at the McGregor Hospital after an illness of several weeks.
Born in the town of Clayton, son of James and Jane Meehan, he farmed near Clayton until 19 years ago when with his wife and children moved onto a farm near Harper’s Ferry, which has since been the home.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters Mrs. Walter Wright, of Garnavillo, Mrs. Bernard McGeough, of Waterville, and Mrs. C. J. Damon of McGregor; three sons, Lloyd and Francis at home, and Howard, a Master Sergeant in the Army at San Antonio, Texas; 13 grandchildren; a brother, Martin Meehan, of Waukon, and a sister, Miss Mamie Meehan, of Harper’s Ferry.
