Ross E Beall, 78, lifelong resident of Keokuk County died at 4:45 a.m. Monday, June 20 in Keokuk County hospital. He had undergone emergency surgery Sunday afternoon.

The body was taken to his residence from the Holm funeral home in Sigourney Tuesday morning. The funeral service was held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Christian Church with the Rev. Robert Mattson in charge. Soloist Richard Rohloff was accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Charles Phelps. Pallbearers were all grandsons of Mr. Beall, Floyd Seaba, Franklin Kerkove, Howard DeYoung, Leslie Williams, William Beall and Charles DeYoung.

Ross Ensign Beall was born January 15, 1882 at Hayesville, the son of Theodore and Sarah Utterback Beall. He attended the Hayesville School and was a member of the Hayesville community church. On May 20, 1906 he was married to Belle Stonebraker who died in 1945. For several years he operated a grocery store in Hayesville. After coming to Sigourney he worked as a carpenter until retirement.

He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ralph Seaba and Mrs. Mildred DeYoung of Sigourney, Mrs. Ilo Kerkove of South English and Mrs. Herbert Williams of North English; and two sons, Theodore Beall of Ottumwa and Franklin of Sigourney. There are 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

A Sister, Mrs. Mose Martin lives in Sigourney, a brother, Corwin in Vancouver, Wash. and a brother, Chester at Spencer.
