Charles was born in Sarcoxie, which is now a portion of Joplin, Missouri. He was the son of William Wallace Fewell of Benton County, Missouri and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Armstrong Fewell who had been born in Kentucky.
His father died in 1896, but his mother lived on until 1926.
In November of 1897, he married Clara Elizabeth "Carrie" Creamer. They had one son, Elmer Creamer Fewell.
Charles worked for the WMCA as secretary, later as a clerk, then superintendent at the post office.
In 1921, his wife Clara died. He later married Bertha Justhena Senn Williams, a widow.
Charley passed away in 1959.
