A lifelong resident of Sayville, he grew up on Johnson Avenue, graduating from Sayville High School in 1944. After a European tour of duty during World War II, he worked at Grumman, building military aircraft. He met his wife, Charlotte at a square dance in December of 1949, held at the Greene Avenue School Gymnasium, Sayville. They were married on Thanksgiving Day, 1950, at the First Reformed Church on Cherry Avenue in West Sayville.

Charlotte inspired Earle to pursue his college degree under the GI Bill, and they moved to Florida where he attended Stetson University, majoring in mathematics. Earle graduated from Stetson University in 1954 to return to Long Island where he attended Hofstra University, earning his masters in 1958. Earle taught high school mathematics in the Center Moriches school district touching the lives of over 3000 students until his retirement in 1983.

Earle is survived by his wife, Charlotte of 61 years, his daughters Lynette Phillips(John) of Montverde, FL, Andrea Gilbert (Richard) of West Sayville, NY, his son Brian (Kelly) of Carlsbad, CA, his grandchildren Carolyn Phillips-Boulton (James) of Christchurch, New Zealand, Amanda Phillips (Daytona Beach Shores,FL), Lauren and Tyler McCormick (Carlsbad, CA) and Garrett Gilbert (West Sayville, NY) and his great-granddaughter Anna Boulton (Christchurch, New Zealand). He passed peacefully in his home.

Earle was a kind soul, a gentle man, a loving husband and a caring father. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him, and his life will continue to influence his family and friends in the years to come.
