Lorraine E. Papineau, 88, of Bradley, died Wednesday (May 9, 2012) at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home, Bourbonnais. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley.

Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Kankakee. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley or to St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a lifelong member.

Mrs. Papineau was retired from the Joliet Arsenal. She was born Sept. 5, 1923, in Bradley, the daughter of Edward and Amanda LeCuyer Strickland. Her husband, Alfred A. Papineau, whom she married Aug. 23, 1947, passed away June 13, 1977. She was a graduate of St. Patrick High School and a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). She collected music boxes. She enjoyed fishing and loved to play bingo.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jerry Papineau, of Bradley, and Fred and Kathleen Papineau, of Bourbonnais; two grandsons, Andrew Papineau and Nickolas Papineau; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Art and Ivy Strickland, of Tullahoma, Tenn., and Margaret Strickland, of Kankakee; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Allan Papineau; three sisters, Maryrose, Eleanor and Ida; and two brothers, Elmer and Edward.
