EMIL LUNGREN'S RITES WEDNESDAY
HE DIED SUNDAY AT LUTHERAN HOME
Funeral services for Emil Lungren, 85, a former president of the Pioneer Mutual Insurance Company, here for a number of years, will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Wednesday, February 26, at 2 p.m. He died Sunday, February 23 at the Lutheran Home for the aged, Madrid.
The body will lie in state at the church from 12:30 p.m. Wednesday until time of the services.
Mr. Lungren had lived in this county and Red Oak for 82 years. A retired farmer, he was on the board of directors of the old Lutheran Children's Home in Stanton and had been on the Executive Board of the Iowa Conference, Augusta Lutheran Church.
The Rev. Raymond C. Holm will officiate and arrangements are in charge of the Perryman-Nelson Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Nyman
Floral committee members are Mr. and Mrs. Edward Green and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Sparr. Music will be by Mrs. Donald Hallquist, soloist, with Mrs. Effie Fridolph at the organ. Bearers are Virgil Lungren, Jerry Watson, Charles Rehburg, John Buchanan, Gerald Skalberg, Ronald Allison. Honorary bearers are Grant Falk, Raymond Nelson, Clarence Lijedahl, Leroy Sar, Elder Swanson, Clifford Palmquist, Vern Beerbaum, Matin Olson, Russell Bergstrom, Edward F. Buch.
Emil Lungren, son of Anders Magnus Lungren and Christina Karen Olsen was born July 14, 1872 at New Windsor, Illinois and was married at Essex in 1894 to Hanah Sar, who died in 1936 and he was married here in 1937 to Helga Burr, who died in 1950. Mr. Lungren was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Ms. Carol Nordquist of Red Oak and Ms. Donald Peterson of Omaha; four sons, reuben of Stanton, Alfred of Essex, Ivan of San Bernardino, California and Ralph of Omaha; two brothers, Joel of Omaha and Nathan of Red Oak; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
