Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Bauer, 99, former Kenmare resident, who succumbed Saturday, Oct. 27, in a Minneapolis hospital, were held from St. Agnes church in Kenmare Tuesday morning. The Rev. Fr. L. Ruemenapp, pastor of the church officiated, and interment was made in St. Agnes Cemetery.
Mrs. Bauer, despite her advanced age had enjoyed good health, hearing and vision, until Oct. 12, when she fell at her home, and suffered a fractured hip. She succumbed at St. Mary's hospital. The Rosary was said at the Ringen Funeral Home Monday evening.
Born in Gerymany, April 8, 1852, Anna Finneman came to the United States 86 years ago, when the family home was established near St. Cloud, Minn. Her marriage to Mickael Bauer took place in Luxembourg Township, near St. Cloud in 1875, and they made their home west of Watkins, Minn., until 1911, when they came to Kenmare and purchased a farm two miles west of Kenmare.
Mr. Bauer passed away on April 8, 1926, and Mrs. Bauer then made her home with a son-in-law and daughter, the late Max L. Thiel and Mrs. Thiel for ten years, prior to moving to Minneapolis, where she had since made her home with another daughter, Mrs. Lucy Maus.
In addition to Mrs. Maus, Mrs. Bauer is survived by three other daughters; Mrs. John Wirtz, Kenmare; Mrs. Helena Wicke of St. Cloud, Minn., and Mrs. Katherine Thiel of Salt Lake City, Utah. She is also survived by two sons, John Bauer, Kenmare and Math Bauer, St. Paul. Two other sons predeceased their mother, Anton, who succumbed Oct. 5, last, and Gothard, on June 27, 1926. Two children died in infancy.
She is also survived by 51 grandchildren, 100 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Six grandsons, Wendel Bauer, Anton Bauer, Anton Thiel, Laurence Wirtz, Clarence Wirtz and John Bauer, served as pallbearers at the last rites, and five great-grandsons served Mass. They were Robert and George Bauer, Kenmare; Paul Wirtz, Allen Bauer, and Michael Bauer.
During her resident in Kenmare Mrs. Bauer was active in the St. Agnes Altar Society, and in Minneapolis attended worship daily, walking to and from church, a distance of three blocks.
Relatives here from a distance for the last rites were Mrs. Thiel, Mrs. Wicke, Mrs. Maus and son Sylvester and Math Bauer; Theo. Bolson of St. Cloud, John B. Finneman of Sidney, Mont., and Herbert Finneman of Golva, this state.
Over 80 relatives and friends who were unable to come here for the services viewed the body at Minneapolis.
Members of St. Theresa's and St. Mary's Circles of the St. Agnes Altar Society served dinner to one hundred relatives and friends, at the church parlors, following the service.
