Gene was hospitalized for the final month of his life. He died at Christian Hospital Northeast at the age of 38 years, 4 months and 22 days.
He was survived by his mother, Anna Sibley of Kampsville; and 2 brothers, Jerry Sibley of Kampsville, and Paul Sibley of Piasa, Illinois.
In addition to his father, Gene was preceded in death by 2 brothers, James and Ralph, who died in infancy.
Visitation was held on 29 Feb 1984 at Hanks Funeral Home in Hardin, Illinois. A rosary was recited there at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass was conducted at 10 a.m. the following morning at St. Anselm Catholic Church.
The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the church or to the Calhoun Ambulance Fund.
