Sylvia M. Webb, 90, of Akron, Ohio, died April 11, 2001, at the Windsor Care Center in Akron. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday May 11, at the Alexander Cemetery near Alexander with Pastor Tony Hershey officiating. A gathering will take place after the service at the Outpost in Alexander.
Sylvia Mabel Arends, the daguther of John and Hattie Arends, was born June 7, 1910. She graduated from the Iowa State Teachers College and taught in Iowa schools. She met Frederick Webb while in college and were married in 1940. Fred died in 1997. He was born in Toronto, Canada, and was a chemical engineer for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. After retirement they traveled the U.S. extensively. They were members of the Methodist Church. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and four brothers, Jesse, Leonard, Bennie and Robert. There are no immediate survivors.
