A. E. Barrett was a well known building contractor on the Pacific Coast. Among the more important buildings erected by him were the Canadian Pacific Hotel in Vancouver, B. C., and the Carnegie library in Oakland, California.

He was survived by his widow, daughter Mrs. H. F. Ostrander and son LeRoy Barrett. He was the son of Samuel Barrett and Clarissa McComas.

His funeral was held in the chapel of the Bonney-Watson Company.
