Elizabeth Jane Clinton, age 74, a lifelong resident of Joplin, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at St. John's Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Elizabeth was born Aug. 27, 1934, in Joplin, daughter of the late Robert L. Arnold Jr. and Florence (Troutman) Arnold. She graduated from Joplin High School and married Robert G. Clinton on Dec. 21, 1955. She was a pastor's wife for many years and the couple served at Mount Carney Christian Church in Falcon, Mo. She was currently a member of Iron Gates Christian Church. Her husband preceded her in death on June 8, 2004. She was also preceded in death by a son, William Clinton; and a sister, Wilma Boaz. Survivors include a son, Dana Clinton, of Joplin; two daughters, Jan Knight and husband, Don, of Leasburg, Mo., and Linda Theus and husband, Tommy Jr., of Joplin; a brother, Bobby Arnold, of Joplin; sister, Mayla McMillan, of Arlington, Texas; uncle, Billy Troutman, of Joplin; grandchildren, Monica Clinton, Rachael Higgins, Lindsay Knight, Kathryn Knight, D'Artagnan Brisco and Nicklaus Ramsey; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 30, at 6 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel. Cremation will follow the service. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Parker Mortuary from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
