He was born August 18, 1932 in Amherst, raised in Brownhelm Township and graduating from Brownhelm High School. The Amherst, Brownhelm and Henrietta Township areas has been the home all of his life.
Donald was employed with the Cleveland Quarries in South Amherst and then went on to use his artistic skills as a master mason to bless his community with various stone carvings, retiring in 1993. His many stone carvings include the pillars at the former Amherst Fifth Third Bank on Cleveland Avenue. He took great pride in sharing his finished products whether in painting, wood carving or stone carving with his family and friends. Donald also enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, golfing and was an avid Firelands Falcon sports and Cleveland Indians fan.
He was an active member of Brownhelm Congregational United Church of Christ.
Donald leaves to cherish his memory his wife of sixty years, Wanda Christine Kneisel (nee Darnell); his sons Rick and Tim, daughters & their husbands: Becky, Kay,Renee, Susan, and Cindy; thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is survived by a sister, Dorothy & husband and brothers LeRoy, Bob, Ken, Lynn, Ray and their wives.
He was preceded ind death by his son-in-law Dennis Holler, brother-in-law Doug Walker and his parents Robert and Ethel (nee Zilch) Kneisel.

Funeral service will be held Monday, December 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from the Brownhelm Congregational United Church, 2144 North Ridge Rd., Brownhelm.. The Rev. Elizabeth Terrill, pastor, will officiate. Burial wlll be in Brownhelm Cemetery, Brownhelm.
Donald's family wish to thank the staff at Kingston of Vermilion for all the loving care and kindness that was showed to him and his family during his stay at their facility.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Jim Muth Family Fund at any First Merit Bank.
